City of Bryan Building and Electrical Code Updates 2021
The City of Bryan adopted new codes that went into effect on Jan. 1, 2022. Adopting new codes helps maintain or improve the City’s Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating and National Flood Protection Association (NFPA) rating. Other benefits to updating to current codes will provide options for the latest technology, additional energy cost savings, and add the latest safety requirements to our built environment. The following codes and ordinance amendments have been adopted:
- 2021 International Fire Code (IFC)
- 2021 International Building Code (IBC)
- 2021 International Existing Building Code (IEBC)
- 2021 International Residential Code (IRC)
- 2021 International Mechanical Code (IMC)
- 2021 International Plumbing Code (IPC)
- 2021 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC)
- 2021 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC)
- 2018 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
- 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC)
Significant Changes
In order to assist homeowners, developers, builders and contractors with changes, the city is providing staff notes on significant changes since the 2015 International Codes and 2014 National Electrical Codes.
