Bryan’s IT Department honored for Cyber Warrior program

The City of Bryan was recently honored by the Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) and the Public Technology Institute (PTI) as a winner in the 2021 PTI Solutions Awards.

The annual PTI Solutions Awards program recognizes CompTIA member cities and counties that have developed or deployed innovative technology solutions within the past 15 months that positively affected local government performance and service to the communities.

“These awards honor the dedicated and vital work of public sector technology leaders and their teams,” said Dr. Alan Shark, Executive Director of the Public Technology Institute. “The last year has been one for the history books and local governments faced a barrage of challenges to keep their operations up and running and to serve their communities during these unprecedented times. Our winners this year show us all how resilient and innovative local governments can be when we need them most.”

While most of the project focused on challenges associated with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Bryan’s Cyber Warrior cybersecurity program was strong enough to shine through and be honored in the Information Technology, population 50,000-249,000 category.

“We are honored to be a recognized for the dedication our team has made to creating a culture of awareness and vigilance surrounding cybersecurity,” said Bernie Acre, Chief Information Officer for the City of Bryan.

The Cyber Warrior program focuses on proactive and consistent communications to employees and members of the public about the importance of being aware of cyber threats. It also incorporates technology-focused solutions to ensure that the City of Bryan’s internal network remains secure and protected from those threats.
