City Offices Closed on April 18 for Good Friday
City offices will be closed Friday, April 18, in observance of Good Friday. Residential solid waste and brush/bulky collections will run as normal.
Brazos County residents are encouraged to safely dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste and electronics for free at the Twin Oaks Landfill’s collection event on Saturday, April 26, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Texas A&M University Services Building. The facility’s entrance is located on Harvey Road, east of Veterans Park and Athletic Complex.
Held every April and October, this rain-or-shine event helps protect our environment by keeping hazardous materials out of the landfill. Household hazardous waste should never be dumped down drains or placed for regular garbage collection.
Accepted materials include various indoor and outdoor chemicals, cleaning agents, automotive products, electronics, paints, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, and flammable items. New or gently-used children’s books and blankets will also be collected to the United Way of the Brazos Valley’s Books and a Blanket program.
Business-generated wastes, household garbage, freon-containing appliances/units, tires, ammunition, 55-gallon drums, medications and sharps/needles/syringes will not be accepted.
