City Offices Closed on Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
City offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Residential solid waste and brush/bulky collections will run as normal.
Construction is officially beginning on the first phase of the Downtown Quiet Zone project, and the contractor, Brazos Paving, Inc., has been given approval to begin work beginning on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021.
The work will begin with construction of medians, sidewalks, signage and road striking outside of the railroad right-of-way at all of the intersections in Phase 1. This sequenced approach allows additional time for Union Pacific Railroad to issue permits and allocate flagmen to the project. Once Union-Pacific issues those permits, the City of Bryan’s contractor will return to each intersection to complete the work needed within the railroad right-of-way.
This approach allows for continuous improvements, which will minimize delays during this phase.
During construction, some intersections could temporarily be closed. For more information on the sequencing of construction, the overall calendar of work and the schematic designs planned for each intersection, visit the Quiet Zone story map or Bryantx.gov/quietzone.
