Here are answers to your most frequently asked questions:
How do you register for programs?
Register online at parks.bryantx.gov, call 979-209-5528, or visit the Parks and Recreation Office at 1309 E. Martin Luther King Street. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Cash, credit card, or check accepted. To register online, you will need to create an account.
What types of other senior programs are available?
Through city funding, residents over the age of 55 can enjoy a variety of free programs and events offered by Brazos County Senior Citizens Association, Inc. Their center, located at 1402 Bristol Street in Bryan, is open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include games, luncheons, arts and crafts, exercise classes, dances, and more.
Is the Bryan Aquatic Center heated?
Yes, the Bryan Aquatic Center is an Olympic-sized heated pool. Lap swim is available year-round for ages 14 and older.
When will the splash pads open?
Splash pads at Tanglewood Park, Tiffany Park, and Gloria Stephan Sale Park open March 1.
When are the quarterly cleanups at the cemeteries?
Quarterly cleanups at Bryan City Cemetery and Oakwood Cemetery are scheduled for Feb. 10 – 14, May 5 – 9, Aug. 11 – 15, and Nov. 10 – 14. During these cleanups, non-compliant items (e.g., glass, ceramics, statues, decorations) and faded or tattered flowers, whether live or artificial, will be removed in accordance with cemetery ordinances (Sec. 22-5).
When will the pools open for recreational swim?
Bryan Aquatic Center will open May 25. Henderson Harbor and Sadie Thomas pool will open May 24.
When will you start accepting pool rentals for the 2025 summer season?
Rentals will be accepted starting May 26 on a first-come, first-served basis. Bryan Aquatic Center rentals are outside public hours. Henderson Harbor rentals are available Saturdays, and Sadie Thomas Pool rentals Sundays, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Call 979-209-5222 or 979-209-5528 or visit the Parks and Recreation Office or Bryan Aquatic Center to reserve.
Are you hiring seasonal staff this summer?
We’re hiring lifeguards, pool cashiers, swim instructors, swim coaches, and camp counselors. Applications open in February. Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
Lifeguard candidates: Certification costs will be refunded for those who work from May 25 to Aug. 10. Starting pay is $12 per hour, with returning incentives.
