What is the Healthy Lifestyles program?
Healthy Lifestyles is the City of Bryan’s voluntary wellness program. This program provides employees the opportunity to complete a biometric screening on an annual basis. This program not only benefits you and your personal health, but also helps the City contain healthcare costs by early detection and the prevention of costly health conditions.
Why should I participate?
This program is a great way for you to regularly monitor your health and biometric numbers (blood pressure, hemoglobin A1C, etc.). In addition to your health, participation in the Healthy Lifestyles program will allow you to receive a discount on your monthly health insurance premiums. Currently, Healthy Lifestyles participants pay $180.00 less per month on their premiums than non-participants.
How do I participate and receive the premium discount?
Prior to the City of Bryan’s annual open enrollment period, you will have the opportunity to complete your biometric screening in order to receive the discounted premium for the next plan year. You may complete the screening through your primary care physician, on-site at various worksite locations or through the City of Bryan/BISD Employee Health Center. The biometric screening includes the following:
- Hemoglobin A1C
- Full Lipid Panel (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides)
- Blood Pressure
- Height and Weight
- PSA (Men 45+)
Screening results may require that you follow-up with a medical provider to be enrolled in the Healthy Lifestyles Program; however, you may not be disqualified from the program due to an existing health condition.
