A lifeguard shortage has led the Bryan Parks and Recreation Department to modify pool hours to keep patron safety a top priority. The change won’t impact programs or scheduled rentals. Hours will be reassessed if more lifeguards are hired.
Memorial Day weekend hours have been altered. On Saturday, May 25, Henderson Harbor and Sadie Thomas Pool will operate from 1 – 7 p.m., and on Sunday, May 26, the Bryan Aquatic Center will host “Slide into Summer” from 1 – 7 p.m.
The modified hours will take effect on Monday, May 27:

Pay starts at $12 an hour, and you must be at least 16 years old. If you get certified through us and get hired as one of our lifeguards, we’ll refund your certification cost at the end of the summer.
Remember to take advantage of the free splash pads available at Tanglewood Park, Tiffany Park, and Gloria Stephan Sale Park. They are open daily from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.
