The Bryan Animal Control Unit is responsible for protecting the health and safety of the citizens and pets within the city limits of Bryan. This unit is tasked with assuring the protection, care, and humane treatment of Bryan animals while upholding and enforcing all city and state laws governing animal welfare.

  • Animal Control officers respond to calls within the city limits of Bryan and are stationed at the Bryan Animal Center, 2207 Finfeather Road, Bryan, Texas 77801.
  • Animal Control officers regularly work seven days a week, including city holidays.
  • Animal Control officers are on call for emergencies after regular business hours, including city recognized holidays.

NOTE: We do not respond to animal-related calls outside of the City limits of Bryan or other municipalities within Brazos County or beyond. College Station residents should call 979-764-3600, and Brazos County residents should call 979-361-3888.

Emergencies

After-hours emergency call responses include:

  • Animal bites or scratches to a human that break the skin
  • Vicious animal at large attacking people or other animals
  • Injured or ill animals with no owner
  • Snake or wild animal in a house (must have visual on the animal)

Brazos County Pet License

A Brazos County License for your pet is required by law for all dogs, cats, and ferrets currently residing within Brazos County. The license tag cost $15 annually, and all that is needed to obtain one is proof of your pet’s rabies vaccination.

A Brazos County License provides the following for your pet:

  • 24-hour phone number for lost & found pets
  • Up to $500 trauma support for lost, injured, and tagged pets

Noise Complaints

City of Bryan Municipal Code Chapter 10, Section 10-10. Animals creating a nuisance

It shall be unlawful to allow the peace and quiet of the neighboring properties to be disturbed by an animal’s barking, howling, crowing, or other noise of any kind.

There are three options for reporting an animal noise complaint and all three have varying degrees of anonymity associated with them. Please read through the options and carefully before reporting your complaint.

  • Option 1 – Maintain Complete Anonymity and Confidentiality
  • Option 2 – Personal Information May or May Not Be Kept Confidential
  • Option 3 – You Will Not Remain Anonymous, and You May Be Required to Testify in Court

Option 1 – Maintain Complete Anonymity and Confidentiality

Call the non-emergency police dispatch number at (979) 361-3888 and make an Anonymous Complaint. Option 1 allows complete confidentiality and you will remain anonymous.

  1. Make an anonymous noise complaint to the police dispatch operator, but DO NOT give your name, address, or contact number.
  2. Please provide the dispatch operator the address of the problem dog(s).
  3. The dispatch operator will generate a service call for Animal Control to respond.
  4. An Animal Control officer will patrol the area and attempt to witness the barking.
  5. The Animal Control officer may issue a warning advising the owner about a complaint alleging excessive barking or noise and action is needed to resolve the problem, or a citation may be issued if an Animal Control officer witnesses the violation.
  6. Since this is an anonymous complaint, with no contact information given, there will not be a follow up call to the complainant.
  7. If the problem continues, please see Options 2 or 3.

Option 2 – Personal Information May or May Not Be Kept Confidential

Call the non-emergency police dispatch number at (979) 361-3888. Option 2 may or may not keep your personal information confidential.

  1. Provide dispatch your contact information and address of the problem dog(s).
  2. The dispatch operator will generate a service call for Animal Control to respond.
  3. An Animal Control officer will patrol the area and attempt to witness the barking.
  4. The Animal Control officer may issue a warning advising the owner about a complaint alleging excessive barking or noise and action is needed to resolve the problem, or a citation may be issued if an Animal Control officer witnesses the violation.
  5. An officer will contact you with follow up information, if requested.
  6. If the problem continues, please see Option 3.

Option 3 – You Will Not Remain Anonymous, and You May Be Required to Testify in Court

Call the non-emergency police dispatch number at (979) 361-3888 and let them know you wish to file an Application for Complaint or you can download the forms below. Option 3 may require you to testify in court and you will NOT remain anonymous.

  1. The dispatch operator will generate a service call for Animal Control to respond.
  2. A person may file a formal complaint against the owner by completing the Application for Complaint and a Complaint Log (a.k.a. Bark Log).
  3. Animal Services will deliver, mail, or make the forms available for you to pick up at the Animal Center or you may download forms linked below.
  4. When you receive the packet, complete both forms and deliver or mail original copies to Animal Services at the address (2207 Finfeather Road, Bryan, TX 77801) or call (979) 361-3888 for pick up.
  5. Upon receipt of the completed forms (i.e. Application for Complaint and Complaint Log), if there are credible witnesses and sufficient evidence (e.g. completed bark log, witnesses statements, date stamped audio/video recordings) to support a criminal prosecution, Animal Services will recommend the case to the City Attorney’s Office to accept the charges against the animal owner.
  6. An Animal Control officer will follow up with you once a recommendation has been determined. If it is determined sufficient evidence exists to substantiate the complaint, the complainant will be given instruction on how to proceed.
  7. Note: If legal action is taken and a trial is set, you will be subpoenaed and required to testify in court. All information submitted during this step will be public record and may be released in accordance to the Public Information Act.

Humane Trap Requests

To have a humane live trap belonging to the City of Bryan Animal Services be placed on your property, you must fill out a Humane Trapping Agreement. Please fill out and submit our online form.

NOTE: Be advised that traps will not be set during inclement or extreme weather such as, but not limited to excessive heat, high winds, rain or cold/freezing temperatures or at the advisement of the Bryan Animal Services Supervisor.
